Moisture Control Procedure:
We will visually inspect the potentially affected area (inside or outside) to check for problem areas, use a moisture meter to measure the water content of the air, provide a free estimate for the installation of moisture prevention methods, and proceed with the installation process.
We may possibly use moisture barriers, a french drain system, dehumidifiers, and vents to rid your property of excess moisture. We may also use special cleaning materials and fungicides. These special cleaning materials and fungicides can possibly be harmful if they come into contact with skin, are ingested, or are inhaled.
The inspection cost is $125 and will be applied to the final cost of all the work performed. The time it takes to complete the process and the cost of the treatment/installation varies. These figures depend on the size of treated areas and the number of methods we employ to control excess moisture on your property. For example: a moisture barrier normally takes a few hours to install, whereas a french drain system may take days.
Please note that we are not licensed mold specialists. A licensed mold specialist would need to officially determine if mold is present in your home.
Moisture Prevention:
The best way to prevent future issues is to schedule regular yearly visits from a pest control professional. This inspection can be coupled with your annual termite inspection and the cost will start at $150.

MOISTURE IDENTIFICATION & ISSUES
Identification:
MDE Pest services specializes in moisture issues in the property crawl spaces.
Moisture can be found anywhere in your home. You may be able to identify moisture issues by visually inspecting to look for fungi (mold and mildew which may be green or black in color), rotting wood, or discoloration of surface areas.
Sensitive noses may also be able to detect a musty or earthy smell of mold or mildew even without being able to see it.
Harm to Health or Property:
Moisture combined with the right temperature, mold food, and mold spores creates the perfect environment for mold growth.
Those affected by asthma or other respiratory conditions should minimize their exposure to mold growth in order to remain healthy. People with severe allergies are at risk and may develop nasal, throat and/or respiratory irritations and may have difficulty breathing.
A licensed mold specialist would need to determine if mold is present in your home.
